Happy 6 month birthday, Kaylee!

I can't believe that Kaylee is 6 months old already (actually yesterday). How time flies. She had her check up yesterday and she now weighs in at 16 pounds 11 ounces. She is my little chunky monkey. She got her shots and she was a real trooper, didn't even cry for one of them and the other one got about 10 seconds of crying.

She has started sitting up on her own in the last week, and when she is on her tummy she gets up onto her knees and rocks back and forth. She should be crawling anytime now. She still rolls anywhere she wants to go. She has come to the age where she likes to play with Shelby and Shelby likes to play with her. That is really good for me, because I can get so much more done while they are awake.

She recently got her first two teeth (her two bottom ones), which is really early compared to when Shelby got hers. She must not have been too cranky while teething because I had no clue until I found the tooth in her mouth. Everything she gets her hands on goes right into her mouth. She has started eating fruits and veggies and tries to bite the spoon when I feed her (that is what she is doing in the picture).

Family update

Shane and I are doing well, we will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary next month. We have been a little stressed and worried for the last couple of weeks as we have been caring for Boomer, who has a slipped disk in his back and can't get up or walk on his own. They tell us he should recover, so we are just praying and waiting. We are planning a short trip with the girls to Orlando as soon as Boomer is better. We are going to go to Sea World, and hang out for a couple of days. We are really looking forward to getting away. Shane has found a new hobby in RC cars (and trucks). In addition to playing with the real things, now he plays with those too. I stay busy taking care of the girls and participating in a Women's Bible Study Ministry (http://www.thewellwomen.org/). Shane hasn't had a lot of "extra" work to do this winter but we are very thankful that he really hasn't lost any of his regular work. He is staying busy doing things at home, and not looking forward to returning back to work every week, or to the hot weather. That has already started, we are on our 3rd or 4th day in the low 80's. How we wish we had a little longer spring.

Shelby is 2 1/2

Shelby is 2 1/2, and definitely is acting like a 2 year old. She is in her "no" phase, and temper tantrum phase. It is pretty funny, though, when I tell her to do something and she says "no thank you." At least she is using her manners. She is growing like a weed, and just grew out of size 2t's a few weeks ago when she went through a growth spurt. One week her jeans fit, and the next they were way too short. Her favorite things to do right now are take care of her babies, like Mommy does with Kaylee, play in her sandbox, and play with Kaylee. She loves her little sister, and is a big helper (most of the time). She has found a new interest in all of her old baby toys, and would rather play with them than the toys in her room. She has been taking swimming lessons for a year now, and is doing great. She swims like a fish, and is now learning to turn over and float on her back to get air. I think we will take a break from lessons in the summer since she now knows what she is doing, and we will have plenty of practice since we spend a lot of time in the pool in the summer.

Her and Shane just planted a garden last week and she is eagerly waiting for it to "pop up so we can eat it at dinner."

Kaylee is 4 months old

Well, Kaylee just turned 4 months old on Wednesday, and she had her check up today. She is growing like crazy, and now weighs 14 pounds and 13 ounces, and 24 1/2 inches long. She is flattening out a little on the growth curve and is down to the 82 percentile for her weight, down from the 97th 2 months ago. She has started rolling over, smiling, laughing and "talking." She is reaching for her toys, and her favorite is her tigger stuffed animal. She is such a joy, and it helps that she has been sleeping through the night for the last couple months. She is a very good and happy baby. You can tell she loves Shelby and Shelby definitely loves her.
